A comprehensive eye examination at Family Vision includes pre-testing before you see the doctor, high resolution retinal photography, a review of your general health, and discussing any specific concerns relating to your eyes or your vision. The doctor will perform a refraction (prescription) tailored to your visual needs, assess your binocular vision and how your eyes work together, and do a thorough health examination.
A full oculo-visual assessment (comprehensive eye exam) is $125 for adults, and $108 for children under the age of 18. This fee includes everything listed in the paragraph above.
For children under the age of 9, and adults over the age of 65, the oculo-visual assessment is covered under your Nova Scotia MSI health card (if eligible). The only thing not included in the MSI eye examination is the retinal photography, which is recommended, and offered at a fee of $25. If you have private insurance, we can often bill this to your insurance plan!
At Family Vision Clinic we also offer emergency eye appointments. If you have an eye infection, injury, sudden vision changes, or other serious ocular concerns, your emergency visit will often be covered under your Nova Scotia health card. We do our best to get you an appointment with our Doctors of Optometry in a timely manner to help you feel better as soon as possible.
Our goal, at Family Vision Clinic, is to provide our patients with excellence in their eye care and eye wear needs. We strive to provide convenient and accessible examination times for our patients, including appointments for eye health and visual assessments or, for contact lens health checks.
In order to be able to continue to provide the same high quality of service for all of our patients, we do ask that if you are unable to make it to your appointment that you notify us by phone, email or, in person 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time.
